Tiny Typists

Tiny Typist

Learning the basics is hard when nobody ever takes the time to teach you.

I sort of wonder about my teaching expertise some days.

I am trying to get kids to log in. Their homeroom teacher set the password to be their names (with a capital letter). Seems elementary, right? Seems like you could easily type in what’s already in front of you.

And still I’m surprised how long it is taking these little ones to log in.

But I shouldn’t be. Many of them only touch a computer once a week when it is their turn to blog. And even then, it’s a little scary, and netbooks are too responsive to uncoordinated fingers.

And I have to keep myself calm. Calm. Calm.

This will be my mantra: They are little. They need time to figure it all out.

Om.

  1. Hi Beth,

This post made me laugh. I can totally commiserate. My last school had one to one tablet computers and I remember a friend of mine had a sign in her room that read “Technology = Patience” I think about that all the time when I’m working with kids and tech. It can be so great, but can also be soooo frustrating.
